Songwriting in Community

Monthly Original Song Salon

nakedI was performing with my singing partner at an open mic at a house in the mountains. Toward the end of the evening a young woman shared some poetry. She was standing in front of the crowd talking to them in an extremely candid and vulnerable way. She inspired me. I began to write poetry, imagining I was standing in front of a crowd baring my soul. My poetry changed. I collected the poems into a folder and now I`m in the process of turning these poems into songs. This collection is called As I Stand Before You.

I’ll be sharing some of these songs, although incomplete, this Saturday at the Monthly Original Song Salon.  This is what we do at MOSS. People share their songs in whatever stage of development, their process around the songwriting and people give feedback. It`s kind of like songwriting in community. Join us this Saturday, Oct. 7th at 5pm at 4435 Driftwood Pl. Boulder, Co. 80301. $5 suggested donation. Please let us know you`re coming.

Thank you,

Christopher
